Privacy Policy — unHINGED Magazine
Your data, explained like a person wrote it

What we collect, and why it's less than you'd think.

We're a magazine, not a data broker. Here's the whole picture, in plain language.

Editorial Note This policy describes how unHINGED Magazine, published by [Publisher Legal Name], handles personal data collected through unhingedmag.com. It's written to be genuinely readable — if any part still isn't clear, that's a bug, not a feature; tell us.

What we collect

We collect the minimum needed to run a magazine that emails you and doesn't fall over under normal traffic:

CategoryExamplesSource
Contact infoEmail address, name (optional)Newsletter signup, contact form
Usage dataPages visited, time on page, referring site, device/browser typeAutomatically, via analytics
CommunicationsEmails or messages you send usDirectly from you
CookiesSession identifiers, preference settingsYour browser

We do not knowingly collect sensitive categories of data (health details, financial account numbers, government ID) through normal use of the site. Please don't send us that information in a contact form — we don't need it and don't want to be responsible for it.

How we use it

  • To send the newsletter you signed up for, and nothing else, to that address
  • To understand which articles are actually working, so we publish more of what helps and less of what doesn't
  • To respond to the emails you send us
  • To keep the site secure and functioning
  • To meet legal obligations where applicable

We do not sell your personal data. Full stop, no asterisk.

Cookies & analytics

Like most websites, we use cookies and similar technologies to remember basic preferences and to understand aggregate traffic patterns through privacy-conscious analytics tools. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time; the site will still work, though some conveniences (like remembering you've dismissed a banner) may reset.

Sharing & third parties

We share data only with the service providers that keep unHINGED running — for example, our email delivery platform and hosting provider — under agreements that limit them to using it on our behalf. If an article contains affiliate links, clicking through may send information to that retailer per their own privacy policy; see our Affiliate Disclosure for context. We may disclose information if legally required to do so.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the personal data we hold about you, and to opt out of certain processing. To exercise any of these, email us at the address below — we'll verify your request and respond within a reasonable timeframe, generally within 30 days.

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in every email we send.

Children's privacy

unHINGED is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll remove it promptly.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security — but we treat this seriously and update our practices as standards evolve.

Changes to this policy

We'll update the date at the top of this page whenever this policy changes meaningfully, and, for significant changes, we'll make a reasonable effort to let you know directly.
